The CAPE RADIO YACHT CLUB in conjunction with Theewater Sports Club are hosting the
2026 DF 95 Global Championships from Friday 16 to Friday 23 October 2026 at Theewaterskloof Dam.
The Venue for the event is the Theewater Sports Club located on the Northern shores of the Theewaterskloof Dam, South Africa's 3rd largest dam and the main water supply to Cape Town.
Nestled in a tranquil setting, the club offers stunning views across the water and surrounding countryside. Its location makes it an ideal spot for both relaxation and outdoor activities, ensuring an enjoyable experience for all attendees.
The Dam is approximately a 90-minute drive east of Cape Town and can be easily accessed from both the city and Cape Town International Airport.
Set at the base of majestic mountains, the scenery is breathtaking, complemented by excellent sailing conditions that add to the allure of the venue. The natural landscape creates a picturesque backdrop for the event, making it a memorable location for participants and guests.
As with all natural water sources, the dam's water level fluctuates significantly throughout the year, influenced by variations in rainfall. Hosting the event in mid-autumn means attendees should benefit from increased winter rainfall and snowmelt from the surrounding mountains, which help maintain high water levels. This ensures ideal conditions for water-based activities and enhances the overall experience at the club.
The Theewater Sports Club boasts 24-hour access control, ensuring security for people and property. Facilities include onsite parking, a bar, restaurant, camping areas, and abundant secure, dry spaces for the event.

SAILING CONDITIONS: October is spring and the weather should be cool and winds, mornings light easterly and afternoons moderate/strong south easterly. South easterlies are the prevailing winds for spring and summer. A Cape frontal system would cause the winds to blow strongly from the North-west.
