The Western Cape Radio sailors are fortunate to have access to 5 venues where they can enjoy sailing and racing their DF95s.
Milnerton Aquatic Club, with a backdrop of Table Mountain and sea winds, was our premier venue. Unfortunately due to the water contamination has not being resolved. The Club is also tackling the weed problem to improve launching and clean water sailing.
Theewaterskloof Dam in the Overberg, 100km from Cape Town, provides an excellent venue at Theewater Sports Club. Winds are often best suited for B and C rigs. A number of championships have been held here due to the water problems at MAC.
Phistantekraal Dam in Durbanville is a good venue that is being used at the Taaibosch Camp facility. We have also started using La Bonheur Croc Farm as an other alternative to MAC.
Sonstraal Dam in Durbanville is a good venue and is used for midweek sailing and training and we have access to Ratanga Park for social sailing.Â
A sailing group has been established on the Whale Coast under Brian Beauchamp's leadership and sail at Bass Lake, Betty's Bay.

The Cape Radio Yacht Club is affiliated to South African Sailing and a number of Yacht Clubs with links on our web page. You may also want to try one of the South African DF95 Facebook pages for more information.
To get in contact, it is best to email CRYC (email below) about our sailing and maybe arrange a sail with a member before your decision is made about getting a DF95. Club members are usually quite knowledgeable to provide the best advice and even how to put the boat together. This information can save quite a lot of time and head scratching, and possibly even some cash. If you want to start sailing tomorrow, there is a small second-hand market of boats. Again, CRYC is the best source of this sort of information.
